Not to be whiny or conspiratorial but does anyone else feel like Western Conference teams get away with far more interference...just thinking about the St. Louis game and last nights game....there was a good amount of the dreaded clutching and grabbing last night

worked out well in the end but we are a far cry from the post 04-05 lockout officiating

Thoughts on Bennett being bench in the 3rd? Bylsma clearly blaming him for the blown coverage on Getzlafs goal. I'm not even sure it was his fault.

I gotta go back and rewatch the sequence. Classically speaking there should be a weak side d man in front of the net and there was definitely not one there. Weak side winger is usually responsible for slot but Getzlaf was right in front of the crease, a pretty unnatural coverage area for Bennett on that play.

Just seemed to me like there were a lot of breakdowns on the play to single out Bennett from what I remember. Oh well.

Both Martin and Orpik where at or below the goal line on the puck side... Martin attempted to get there but became tangled (picked) by a Duck

Not sure at all how that goal was Bennett's fault

I just took a gander at the sequence. I would put the blame on Kunitz and Crosby. Both guys thought they were the left wing. Kunitz should have assumed center responsibility and taken front of the net. Instead he drifted up where Crosby already was and Bennett was left in a really bad spot.

You could make the argument that Bennett should have picked up the most dangerous offensive threat that was in front of him but I wouldn't blame him on that play. Kunitz didnt cover anybody.

Bennett peeled off as Getzlaf went to the crease.

I saw two encouraging things last night.... Letang controlled himself. Didn't end up out of position like he normally does. Still not enamored with his PP work, but no defensive lapses is a start.

After that pathetic first period, they seemed to concentrate on getting in front of the net for a change. It's just been amazing that through this slump the last couple of weeks, the opposing tenders were able to see almost every shot.

More Geno Machino please!

I think it may have been more than just that play. He was pretty weak on the puck all night, got caught watching the play a few times, and couldn't handle that great saucer pass from crosby at the end of the first. I think these are just rookie growing pains and Bylsma was just sitting him to give the team their best chance to win. They really needed to come out of that game with a W.

Once again, the Pens prove that "going to the front of the net scores goals" while simultaneously proving "not going to the net makes the opposing goalie's night really easy" in the same game.

Maybe eventually the lessons will seep into their brains and they'll start doing it with regularity.

Best win of the year. Not agreeing with you with malkin shooting. Don't know how many he attempted but he put 3 on net. He deferred a few times which had me pulling my hair out. His play is picking up ill assume he gets 1/2 against the caps. Ov is unreal right now. Hope they know where he is at all times especially on the power play

UH-OH! Gibbons scored a goal and got an assist. That means it's time to send him down and let Matt D play...

Naaa... Boston win was the best win of the year so far IMO. Still was two good periods last night.......which is one more than we're used to as of late.

It's funny no one mentioned Martins effort from last night , he was all over the place making play after play, I thought he played as strong as anyone last night but maybe that's just me ?

Nope. Martin was terrific. It's what I've come to expect of him so I will only mention it when he under performs.
